Annsley Felton
– Marsh’s Edge Supernova Winner 2020 –
The Supernova is the highest individual honor that our company gives and each year, one individual on the leadership team at Marsh’s Edge is voted as the community’s Supernova. The winner of this award is voted on by their colleagues and the honor is bestowed upon them at the company’s yearly Annual Meeting.
The criteria for voting are based on upholding our company’s mission to be caring professionals dedicated to quality services. Additionally, this individual will consistently deliver excellent customer service (to Members and colleagues), lead positively with integrity, take accountability, put the team before themselves and will embody the company’s vision to create communities where people live longer, healthier, and happier lives.
This year, we are proud to congratulate our Social Director, Annsley Felton as the recipient of the 2020 Marsh’s Edge Supernova Award. This honor was bestowed during the Marsh’s Edge Supernova Celebration on Friday August 14th at the King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
“There is so much to learn from our Members, and listening to their amazing life stories and accomplishments is one of my favorite things.”
In 2015 Annsley earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services. She wasn’t 100% set on a career path that she wanted to take but knew that she wanted to create a positive impact on the lives of others. After staying home to care for her young children, she accepted a position at a senior living community as their Activity Director and immediately fell in love with the role. After a few years in that position, she was ready for a new challenge and applied for the role of Social Director at Marsh’s Edge. “I’m so glad that I did, it has challenged me and I have grown professionally while having a positive impact on our Members” says Felton.
Interview with Annsley Felton
How do you feel being chosen as your community’s Supernova by your peers?
It is such an honor to be chosen by my peers as Marsh’s Edge Supernova. It’s an amazing feeling to have your work recognized by your peers. And because of the team we have and the environment we have created, it makes doing my work so much more enjoyable and fulfilling.
In your position, how do you fulfill the company’s Guiding Principles (People First Always, We Exist To Serve Our Members and We Have A Responsibility to be Full)?
My role here is for our Members, it’s for their enjoyment and wellbeing. So making sure that I am offering the kinds of things that they want to do, and making sure they are satisfied is always the driving factor. We have a responsibility to be full goes deeper than just occupancy, I plan activities and events that are appealing to prospective move-ins, but I also plan activities and events that allow our Members to live their life to the fullest, and be enriched by our community.
What do you want people to know about living at a retirement community?
There are a lot of misconceptions about living in a retirement community, and they are far from the knitting groups and Bingo that everyone envisions. There is so much to learn from our Members, and listening to their amazing life stories and accomplishments is one of my favorite things. Our members are full of life and excitement, and we have a social program to match that. From extravagant events with Oxygen bars, and hot air balloon rides, to our weekly Happy hours and challenging games of trivia—Senior Living is anything but boring.
