Day 1 – Marsh’s Edge kicked off Alice in Wonderland week with a game of Queen of Hearts Croquet! Members teamed up with each other to take their shot against the Queen of Hearts! Day 2 – On Tuesday, the social team hosted a wine tasting with Rabbiteye Wine! Rabbiteye Wine is blueberry wine made in Bristol, Georgia —about two and a half hours from Marsh’s Edge! The winery produces four wines, Brightwell, PowderBlue, Tifblue Sweet, and Super Sweet! Attendees learned all about these two wines and the berries that make them! And, the best part is each bottle has two pounds worth of blueberries in them – a great way to get those much-needed antioxidants! The dining team did an incredible job and prepared individual cheese platters to complement the tasting! When all was said and done, Tifblue was the crowd favorite, followed by a close second from PowderBlue!

Day 3 – On Day 3 of the “Alice in Wonderland Signature Experience” Members made a magical stop at the very exclusive and elusive “Mad Hatter Tea Party”! Nobody was late for this very important date! Attendees enjoyed a wide selection of finger foods: finger sandwiches, bacon-wrapped shrimp, herb cheese stuffed tomatoes, tiramisu bites, raspberry tarts, and more! Of course, there was a beautiful selection of teas including: peach tea, green tea with honey, and blackberry sage tea! It was a lovely afternoon of tea, friends, and delicious food!

Day 4 – The final event of the Marsh’s Edge “Alice in Wonderland Signature Experience” took Members straight down the rabbit hole! The community’s Oglethorpe Ballroom was transformed into a whimsical wonderland with clocks, flowers, picture frames, floating chairs, and hues of blue, purple, green, and pink were everywhere! The Palmetto Catz played a variety of favorite tunes so that everyone could really boogie down! While the dining team, and amazing Executive Chef, Jayson, blew attendees away with a fantastic 4-course menu! Rabbit and Wild Mushroom, followed by a summer salad, then a decadent meal of beef and lobster with saffron and purple potatoes! To top off the night, the Chef made his signature sweet corn ice cream, garnished with berries, crumbled caramel corn, and mint! It was truly an adventurous week in Wonderland!

The Greatest Showman

“The noblest art is that of making others happy!” – P.T. Barnum

The Marsh’s Edge June Signature Experience was a week of food, fitness, fellowships, and fun that followed the theme of Hugh Jackman’s hit musical movie, The Greatest Showman! To kick off the week, Members watched a screening of The Greatest Showman in the Auditorium! Later in the week the social team brought the carnival fun to Marsh’s Edge with games and delicious carnival treats! Attendees loved snacking on popcorn, cupcakes, corn dogs, funnel cakes, pretzels, caramel apples, and snow cones! But by far, the most popular event that day was the tattoo booth! A lot of our Members received fun temporary tattoos and we had so many fun giggles! To close out carnival day, Marsh’s Edge Executive Director, Chris Thorpe, hopped in the dunk tank to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association! In the week’s Grand Finale, Marsh’s Edge hosted our Greatest Showman Dinner! The room was draped in yellow and red fabric to resemble the big top! Twinkling stars and trapeze hoops hung from the ceiling for added effect. While tables were adorned with golden circus animals and glittering table runners. Guests enjoyed an exquisite four-course meal inspired by ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’. The menu consisted of Popcorn Shrimp, a Strawberry Poppyseed Salad, Peanut Crusted Pork Loin with hoisin sauce, and Jasmine Rice. It was followed by homemade cookies and ice cream with a fried oreo – a carnival/circus favorite dessert! As a fun signature drink, attendees sipped on cotton candy margaritas! It truly was a night to ‘Rewrite The Stars’, dream ‘A Million Dreams’ at Marsh’s Edge.

Additionally, they learned a series of facts about each stop to help enhance their understanding of the culture. The Around The World Tour began in “The Big Apple” – New York City! Attendees boarded at the John F. Kennedy airport and traveled to Mexico, Argentina, Japan, Korea, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, Denmark, Italy, Germany, and ended in France. Attendees dined on tacos, yakitori, hummus, homemade gelato, and more! They tried new and unique beverages from Prickly Pear Margaritas to Jagermeister.
